Fort San Cristobal
Starting point
Fort San Cristobal- This fortress was constructed in 1634 and reconstructed in 1770's and is the largest ever built in the Americas by Spain.
El Viejo San Juan- "You are Here"
San Juan is the OLDEST CITY under the U.S. flag. It was founded in 1511 by Juan Ponce de León. The district that today is known as El Viejo San Juan or Old San Juan was the personal vision of Ponce de León. He helped plot the layout of the city, supervised the construction of its massive walls and determined which structures were to be built and where.
500 years of history planted since the second voyage of Columbus in 1493.
Map of Old San Juan - We arrived in the early evening and starting at dusk, took a stroll around the entire El Morro trail. This trail offers the most scenic views along San Juan Bay and is a "magical experience"with the walls of the fortress illuminated along the way.
